Woman With a Fan: A Modern Bauhaus Interpretation

Updated: Feb 19

A Fresh Take on Bauhaus Expression

Woman With a Fan is one of my newest Bauhaus‑inspired prints — a piece that blends geometric clarity with a quiet emotional presence. It draws from the spirit of early modernism while staying rooted in my own approach to color, balance, and abstraction.

This artwork began as a study in symmetry and contrast, but it quickly evolved into something more personal: a portrait that feels both architectural and human, structured yet soft.

A striking Bauhaus‑inspired piece — “Woman with a Fan” — adding structure and sophistication to a minimalist room.

Inspired by Archipenko’s Bold Simplicity

This piece is my interpretation of the sculptor Oleksandr Archipenko, whose work reshaped how the human form could be represented. Archipenko used geometry to express emotion, and that idea became the foundation for this print.

Key influences reflected in the artwork

  • Simplified, sculptural facial features

  • Strong vertical division to create tension and harmony

  • Overlapping circular forms that echo early modernist sculpture

  • A limited but intentional color palette to guide the eye

The result is a portrait that feels serene, balanced, and unmistakably Bauhaus.

Geometry, Color, and Calm

The composition is built from intersecting circles, semicircles, and stripes — each chosen to create rhythm and movement. The closed eyes and small red mouth introduce a sense of stillness, while the bold shapes around the figure add energy.

Design elements that define the piece

  • Warm and cool tones working in opposition

  • A central vertical split that creates duality

  • Layered circular forms suggesting depth and dimension

  • A minimalist background that lets the figure take center stage

It’s a piece that works beautifully in modern interiors, especially spaces that lean toward Bauhaus, mid‑century, or minimalist design.

Why This Print Matters in My Bauhaus Collection

Woman With a Fan expands my Bauhaus catalog into more expressive territory. While many of my Bauhaus works focus on architecture, grids, and spatial tension, this print brings a human presence into the mix — without abandoning the geometric discipline that defines the style.

It’s a bridge between structure and emotion, which is exactly what I love exploring in my modern art practice.

Where to Find the Print
